How the estimate is calculated

  1. Base area = length x width.
  2. Order area = base area x (1 + allowance).
  3. Tile count = order area / tile area, rounded up.
  4. Boxes = tile count / tiles per box, rounded up again.

Grout joints do not reduce this planning quantity. Boxes are intentionally treated as indivisible purchase units.

Before buying tile

Use the exact nominal or actual tile dimensions shown by the manufacturer.

Buy matching dye lots where color consistency matters and inspect box coverage.

Plan borders, niches and pattern repeats separately before choosing the allowance.
